I have always absolutely loved stories. Whether it be novels, films, or anything in-between, there is something undeniably magical about being whisked away to another world. I am particularly charmed by imaginative worlds that feature beautiful homes and gardens! Coming upon beautiful homes in movies over the years has been such a source of inspiration to decorate my own place. Below are a collection of beautiful homes in movies that are simply enchanting (the movies they are featured in are delightful too!). I’m curious to know if you have a favorite movie house – share with me in the comments below đź’•
6 Enchanting Movie Homes
Bewitched (2005)
I couldn’t help but put Bewitched at the top of the list. I saw this film in theaters about 15 years ago and was completely mesmerized by Samantha’s cottage. It is so enchanting!
Father of the Bride (1991)
Is there anything more idyllic than the backdrop of a Nancy Myers film? This beautiful home paired with George Banks’s narration warms my heart…“This is our house, 24 Maple Drive…I love this house. I love that I taught my kids to ride their bikes in the driveway, I love that I slept with them in tents in the backyard, I love that we carved our initials in the tree out front…but the thing I think I like best about this house are the voices I hear when I walk through the door.”
The Holiday (2006)
Another Nancy Myers masterpiece – if you haven’t seen this film, please add it to your holiday festivities this year! The backdrop includes a beautiful English cottage and stunning Los Angeles mansion. Between the two, The Holiday is filled with design inspiration galore. Which would you choose to stay in for a holiday?
Practical Magic (1998)
Although this Victorian house is a home to witches in the celebrated film, Practical Magic, it is anything but haunting. In fact, it is particularly cozy and inviting! The production designer on this film explained, “There is a whole world in this house and garden…These women are outcasts and this place is their sanctuary.”
Evening (2007)
The Rhode Island summer home featured in Evening takes my breath away. It is the postcard perfect setting for a tragic and romantic story.
The Parent Trap (1998)
This list wouldn’t be complete without the elegant 7 Pembroke Lane (another beauty courtesy of Nancy Myers). After all these years, I still get butterflies when Hallie walks up those steps for the first time!
What is your dream house like? I would love to hear!
