Aren’t these vintage charm bookmarks just lovely?! I was inspired to make them as I’ve recently been thinking about how special it is to add a personal touch to your belongings. Adding a personal touch gives already-beloved items even more meaning and allows us to document a piece of our story in a unique way.
Because books are a special inspiration, I thought about ways I could personalize them a little more and DIY bookmarks came to mind. Making these bookmarks was SUPER easy, inexpensive, and fun! To learn how to make your own, see the tutorial below:
DIY Bookmarks Tutorial:
Materials:
- Silver plated hook bookmarks (available here!)
- Jump rings. These can be found at craft stores like Michael’s or you can order them here.
- Pliers
- Vintage-style charms. I found the ones I used at Michael’s but you can also easily search for them online. Using a charm with special meaning (e.g. your great-grandma’s earrings, a charm from your first charm bracelet, etc.) will make your bookmark even more personalized!
Pretty Vintage Charms:
Instructions:
- Using pliers, carefully open a jump ring to create few centimeters of space.
- Attach a vintage charm of your choosing by sliding the jump ring onto the hoop attached to your charm.
- With the vintage charm now linked to the jump ring, slide the open jump ring into the hole of a silver plated hook bookmark.
- Secure the vintage charm on the bookmark by closing the jump ring. You can use pliers to do this but I found it a lot easier to use my fingers!
That’s it! If you make these bookmarks, I would LOVE to see them! Be sure to tag me in pictures of them on Instagram 🙂
Happy making, friends!
Love, Hayley
Edit: I recently made more of these using darling initial charms that you can find here!
